Puppies

The start of a new life is always exciting – not only for puppies and mothers, but also for us humans. It is all the more important to have a contact person who knows the needs of puppies, adolescent dogs and mothers from many years of experience - and is happy to give you advice and support.

In the first four weeks, the mother’s milk is the best food for puppies. It contains all the important nutrients which the offspring requires - and is particularly well tolerated. However, these four weeks are a difficult time for the mother. She not only has to look after herself, but also her young pups. To avoid nutrient deficiencies, we recommend one of our puppy foods in the Young Pack line - ideally during the last two weeks of pregnancy.

During its 3rd or 4th week, the puppy usually realises on its own that now is the right time for additional feeding. They become increasingly restless, constantly want to drink and even try to take their mother’s food. The time has now come for their own bowl.

Finding the right puppy food depends on different factors - above all on individual development, expected adult weight and breed.

In any case, it is important to weigh the pup regularly and to check its weight using our puppy table. In the first six to eight months in particular – the main growth phase – puppies need a perfectly coordinated energy and protein content.

Matching treats & snacks

can be found in the chewing articles catalog

Vigorous chewing is good for all puppies. One of the reasons why dry food is often preferred: chewing the crunchy croquettes provides the necessary pressure, which can make jaws and teeth strong and resilient.

In general: a slightly delayed rate of growth has no adverse effect on health, on the other hand growing too quickly does.

For optimum care, please note our recommendations for feeding quantities.

You can find detailed tables on the catalogue's final pages.
